Tree Waves 51:27

about

51 minutes and 27 seconds of electronic autumn for the back-to-school set.

This (virtual) synthesizer patch is built around one slow ramp-shaped wave that branches into many copies of itself, each at a different related speed (a fifth as slow, three times as fast, etc...). These branched waves each control some aspect of the sound, and together they create a rustling canopy of sound-leaves.

~

"When you sent this email tree waves was playing on the beach. When I read it it was playing on the forest deck. Just now listening to the Ballet of the Ents bass solo. [...later...] Shortly after the bass solo an owl perched in a dead shagbark hickory above and started singing along. That owl was making sounds I’ve never heard before. May have flew in for the concert from Detroit."

- S.W., writing from the shore of Lake Huron in Ontario

~

"It feels exciting, like it keeps being on the verge of something exciting happening, but then it never gets there... which is perfect for dopamine fueling."

- M.J. in Toronto

about

Jascha Narveson Brooklyn, New York

I was raised in a concert hall and put to sleep as a child with a vinyl copy of the Bell Labs mainframe singing "Bicycle Built for Two." I now make music for people, machines, and interesting combinations of people and machines.
